English 1010
Probably one of the biggest issues on campus and for myself is the high prices of books. Why are books so expensive? I for one, I do not have a scholarship and have to struggle just pay tuition, let alone 400$ for books. Most students find other sources to buy their books. Selling books to other students, Online stores such as half.com or amazon.com, or Buying a book with friends and sharing the book for assignments. What frustrates me more than anything is the fact that if you buy a book in the book store for abou 100$, why at the end of the semester can you sell it back and get only about 40$ back? On top of that they can sell them the next semester as a used book and earn more money on that same book. I am getting by, but feel terrible for the students who have families and can hardly afford school so they can get better jobs. I believe that SLCC should really consider lowering the price of at least the general education book, this is a problem!

I wrote about the same topic so I completely agree. Something needs to be done about these crazy expensive books. I just don't understand why they charge so much for textbooks. It doesn't make sense to me. I think something should be done, I just don't know where to start. It is a complete rip off to students who already have to pay tuition and fees. Something has got to give.
